This 160mm Nakiri was hand forged by Kosuke Muneishi. It utilizes yasuki hagane blue #2 steel, as the core, sandwiched between SUS stainless steel. The blue #2 steel core provides for an extremely sharp edge, that holds, while the stainless layers resist corrosion on the blade. The blade boasts of a 64-65 on the HRC scale!
I made this handle from a piece of Koa wood, it is an oval shape, with tapered end, and a smooth, comfortable hand feel. Lightly charred at the bolster, it is rubbed with two coats of natural hemp seed oil, and finished with an extra protective wax coat.
